Diversion Dive Travel [ Australia ]
PNG is a dream of divers. Crystal clear waters, "paradise islands", and mountain ridges covered with thick
rainforests or spectacular volcanoes provide an exclusive setting for the best dive vacations imaginable.
A small fleet of outstanding live-aboard dive vessels and a number of excellent dive resorts offer outstanding
service to divers. Wherever you go in PNG, you will be one of few divers who explore the reefs. PNG is far away from any form of mass tourism.
Hundreds of wrecks, many of them W.W.II wrecks are scattered across the nation above and below the waterline. Boats, planes, barges and submarines, some of them still in excellent condition, have been
transformed into living coral reefs. Rabaul, Kavieng, Loloata (Port Moresby) and Madang are good places to go for wreck diving.
Destinations: Central Province-Coral Sea, Milne Bay-Tufi, Madang-Manus, Wewak-Hermit, Kimbe New Britain, Rabaul, Kavieng-New Ireland and Highlands.

Milne Bay lies at the most south-eastern tip of PNG. As a maritime Province with many spectacular reef, island
structures and cultures, most of her people are seafarers who depend largely on a livelihood from the sea.
Ceremonial gift exchanges like the Kula, and trade between the islands are among the richest cultural heritages in the Pacific.

Geschiedenis van Papoe Nieuw-Guinea - Wikipedia
Archeological evidence indicates that humans arrived on New Guinea at least 60,000 years ago, probably by
sea from Southeast Asia during an iceage period when the sea was lower and distances between islands shorter. For an overview of the geological history of the continent of which New Guinea is a part, see
